Since 1990, the Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM) has offered practical solutions for a safer workplace. We are a non-profit organization run by the building construction industry in Manitoba (the 400 Group of the Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba).
The Winnipeg Construction Association’s Board of Directors and the CSAM Advisory Committee guide our organization. We’re funded entirely by a % levy (3-4%) on top of an employers Workers Compensation Board of Manitoba premium. We are proud to run a sleek, efficient organization at as little cost to you as possible.
Although we are not a government organization, we have a close working relationship with the WCB and the Workplace Safety and Health Branch (WSH) to promote safe work practices and procedures throughout the entire construction industry. We are also a participating member of the Canadian Federation of Construction Safety Associations and have authority to grant COR™ Certification (national safety-program accreditation) within Manitoba.
Our objectives are to:
- Provide information regarding accident prevention methods and changes to health and safety regulations
- Develop resources, tools and training programs to enable contractors to meet their legislated responsibilities
- Guide the industry to establish comprehensive safety programs tailored to individual company needs
- Act as authority with jurisdiction to grant COR™ Certification & Small Employer COR™ Certification
Essentially, we provide advice in the form of training, education, information and resource material to align with our slogan: Practical Solutions for a Safer Workplace.
