How
to Register - Manitoba
Step 1
Contact the Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM)
and register into the COR™ program. Mail or fax the completed registration
form to the registrant's office. Should you need additional information
about the program prior to registration, contact the Winnipeg office
at (204) 775-3171 or the Brandon office at (204) 728-3456.
Step 2
Complete all four courses: Principles of Safety Management,
Safety Auditor Training, Leadership for Safety Excellence and one
of the Train the Trainer programs: Hearing Conservation, Lockout/Tagout
or WHMIS. These will be provided by CSAM.
Step 3
With the information your company has gained from the courses,
develop a manual and implement a quality safety program. CSAM personnel
will be available to provide guidance and support while you are
developing your safety program.
Step 4
Conduct and pass an internal safety and health audit. Upon
successfully passing of the internal audit, a request for an independent
audit will be coordinated through the CSAM office. A COR™ status
certificate will be issued to the company on the successful passing
of the independent audit. This process will prove that your health
and safety program is achieving the appropriate results.
To maintain COR™ Certification
the company must have an internal audit annually with an independent
audit in their fourth year. These audits and their findings must
be coordinated and registered with the CSAM office.
The "Certificate
of Recognition" is valid for three years providing all requirements
of COR™ standards are met and certification is maintained annually.
Audit Schedule
First Year
The company must complete accreditation and pass an internal audit
by the CSAM - plus an independent audit appointed by the CSAM. The
firm will then be recommended to the Workplace Safety & Health
Division for certification recognition and to the Workers Compensation
Board for assessment review.
Second Year
An internal audit by the CSAM will be completed on the anniversary
date of the company certification verifying with the WCB and WSH
Division - ensuring the safety status is being maintained.
Third Year
The same process to be used by the CSAM advisors as in the second
year.
Fourth Year
The company will require an internal and independent audit
on their anniversary date of the fourth year confirming the status
quo of the safety program. Independent auditing in the fourth year
is suggested as there could be personnel changes within the company
and will also double check the internal audit program supporting
and maintaining standards set out by the CSAM program.
