Basics of Fall Protection
Fall protection is mandatory in Manitoba. This applies to all employers and any self-employed contractors, in all industries – commercial and residential included.
As per legislation, it is the employers’ responsibility to ensure that their workers are made aware of hazards and provided instruction and/or training specific to the job.
This User’s Guide is the foundation of a company training program for fall protection. Covering the contents of the User Guide, the Basics of Fall Protection course will provide the participants with the knowledge required for construction personnel to work safely in areas exposed to fall hazards.
The objectives are to enable participants have a thorough understanding of:
- fall hazards
- fall protection controls
- fall prevention techniques
- fall arrest systems
- how to properly wear a fall arrest harness
Tips on how to apply this User Guide to your required on-site and job specific fall protection training will also be discussed. Additional copies of this 60 page booklet (including the written test) are available for $5.00 each if you wish to use this information as part of your job specific fall protection training.
