Manitoba high school students gathered at Red River Exhibition Place on May 14 and got a first-hand look at what a career in construction might be like.

Over 1700 participants attended the 6th annual Manitoba Construction Career Expo hosted by the Winnipeg Construction Association. This sold-out, one-day event, which features over 30 exhibitors, has many interactive and hands-on activities for students to audition including: welding, painting, roofing, and piping.

The career expo also shows students the correct way to perform certain tasks; with industry professionals demonstrating safety techniques and guidelines. This summer many students will be joining the construction workforce and performing various jobs throughout the city and province. With new workers, it is extremely important they receive the safety training necessary to do their jobs and avoid any incidents or injuries.
