In our ongoing effort to protect the safety and health of our staff and guests, the Winnipeg Construction Association's Board of Directors has made the decision to require proof of immunization for anyone attending training, meetings, or events in the Construction Education Centre (CEC) at 1447 Waverley Street in Winnipeg. This temporary policy will go into effect on November 1, 2021.
We realize this is a sensitive topic for many, and we hope we can answer some of your questions below:
Q: Does this apply to anyone entering the building?
A: The new policy applies to anyone attending training, meetings, or events in our Construction Education Centre and anyone spending more than 15 minutes in our offices. If you are picking something up or dropping something off there is no need to show proof of immunization. As an assurance to all our guests, we're happy to say that 100 per cent of WCA and CSAM staff are fully immunized.
Q: When does this policy come into place and how long will it be in place for?
A: We realize some members are not yet fully immunized, are waiting for their second dose or are currently in the two-week waiting period after their second dose. For this reason we are instituting a grace period — the proof of immunization policy will go into effect on November 1, 2021.
We also want to stress that we anticipate this being a temporary measure. While we can't currently pick out a date when this will no longer be necessary, at this point in time we feel it is in the best interest of our staff and guests.
Q: I've already purchased courses for training at the CEC — what are my options if I do not have proof of immunization?
A: Anyone affected by this new policy can transfer to live, virtual online training or will receive a full refund.
