It was an exhilarating showdown as Winnipeg hosts the 2023 Skills Canada National Competition, where students and apprentices battled it out to prove their skills supremacy.
The RBC Convention Centre became the epicentre of skill and talent as more than 500 students and apprentices from across Canada gathered to compete in 45 exhilarating skilled trade and technology competitions. YOUR Construction Safety Association was there in full force as part of the safety committee, ensuring all participants, volunteers and attendees were safe throughout this wonderful event.
The Skills Canada National Competition provided a remarkable platform for tradespeople to showcase their expertise in diverse areas, including electrical, plumbing, bricklaying, hairstyling, and baking. The event also attracted approximately 12,000 curious student visitors, offering them a glimpse into the exciting future that awaits them in the world of trades.
Exemplary achievements were celebrated as around 250 medals adorned the deserving winners across six distinct sectors of skilled trade and technology. These sectors encompassed transportation, construction, manufacturing and engineering, information technology, services, and employment. Each competitor underwent rigorous evaluation, meeting stringent industry standards to secure their well-deserved accolades.
