Congratulations to Ihor Barwinsky of Gypsum Drywall Interiors Ltd. for winning the 2019 Construction Safety Award of Merit!
The award, presented by the Construction Safety Association of Manitoba (CSAM) annually at The Safetys awards gala, serves to recognize an individual’s dedication and outstanding contribution to health and safety in the construction industry of Manitoba.
Barwinsky, who has worked in construction safety for 10 years and achieved his NCSO™ designation in 2017, exemplifies these qualities and more. He provides strong leadership in workplace safety, actively promoting physical safety and health, as well as mental health and physical fitness.
“Ihor is passionate about establishing a strong workplace safety culture — on the worksite, in his company, in our association, and right through the residential construction industry,” says nominator Lanny McInnes, President and CEO of the Manitoba Home Builders’ Association (MHBA).
Barwinsky has had a true impact on construction safety in Manitoba not only through his work as a Safety Manager, but as a member of several committees, such as CSAM’s Advisory Committee.
Currently Barwinsky also sits on the MHBA’s Board of Directors and chairs the MHBA Workplace Safety and Health Committee.
In past, Barwinsky participated on the Scaffold Advisory Committee, and in 2014 received funding from the WCB Research and Workplace Innovation Program, developing indicators for preventing shoulder injuries in the drywall sector — reducing MSI injuries that year by over 30 per cent.
CSAM is proud to honour Barwinsky’s dedication and outstanding contribution to health and safety.
“Ihor shows an excellent level of commitment to keeping people safe in the workplace and on the job site,” says CSAM Executive Director Sean Scott.
“He truly cares about the wellbeing of his colleagues and peers, and that’s what we, as an organization, love to see in our sector.”
Barwinsky and other safety champions will be honoured at The Safetys Awards gala on September 25. CSAM invites you to attend and join in the celebration! Registration is available on The Safetys website.
